The mayor of Trieste, Roberto Dipiazza, is preparing an emergency ordinance that will close all schools in the city on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, in response to worsening weather conditions caused by snowfall.
The measure, which is expected to apply to schools of every level and type within the municipal boundaries of Trieste, comes as snow and winter weather continue to affect transportation and public safety across the area.
City officials said the decision was being taken as a precautionary step to reduce risks for students, families and school staff, as well as to ease pressure on local roads and public services during the storm.
The ordinance is expected to be formally issued later today.
