Trieste will host the eighth edition of the International Chess Tournament Starhotels Savoia Excelsior Palace from January 4 to 6, 2026. Organized by the Accademia di Scacchi Trieste, the event will bring Italian and international players to the historic waterfront hotel for five rounds of competition, divided into two categories by rating. With a €1,500 prize fund, live online broadcasts of selected games, and confirmed participation by top grandmasters, the tournament reinforces Trieste’s role as a regional hub for chess and winter sports tourism.
