The Friuli Venezia Giulia regional government approved its 2026 Stability Law on Friday, a measure intended to provide both financial resources and medium-term economic stability for the region.

Speaking after the regional council session, Governor Massimiliano Fedriga described the law as a significant tool for the region’s economic planning. He noted that the international rating agency Moody’s has recognized Friuli Venezia Giulia, alongside Lombardy, for the quality and stability of its public finances, providing reassurance to residents and businesses.

According to Fedriga, the new budget strengthens existing measures in areas such as family support, transportation, infrastructure, and municipal funding. Health care also sees a notable increase in resources, which the government plans to maintain over the next three years.

The law includes two notable provisions highlighted in a major amendment. The first allocates an additional €30 million, supplementing €5 million already directed to areas affected by recent floods, to provide direct support to families, citizens, and businesses. The second establishes a €139 million, three-year program aimed at promoting natality and family policies.

Under this program, families with a newborn will receive €250 per month for the first year of life, rising to €500 per month for mothers under 30. Additional support of up to €40,000 is available to young families for the purchase of a first home.

“These measures are part of a broader framework of existing initiatives,” Fedriga said. These include contributions toward nursery school fees, a 50 percent discount on public transportation for students, the Family Card, and other programs aimed at supporting students and households.
