The United World College of the Adriatic will host filmmaker, writer, and international producer Alia Yunis for a special screening of her acclaimed documentary The Golden Harvest on Thursday, October 16, at 8 p.m. in the college’s auditorium in Duino.
Filmed across Italy, Spain, Greece, Palestine, and Israel, The Golden Harvest offers a poetic, historical, and deeply personal reflection on the ancient bond between olive trees and the peoples of the Mediterranean.
Through interviews, evocative imagery, and family memories, Yunis explores the cultural, social, and economic significance of what she calls the region’s “green gold.” The documentary traces stories that intertwine identity, heritage, and sustainability—using the olive as both symbol and witness to millennia of Mediterranean history.
Following the screening, Yunis will engage in an open conversation with the audience, offering insights into the making of the film and the themes it raises.
The documentary, filmed in English, Arabic, Italian, and Spanish, includes English subtitles for all non-English dialogue. Admission is free and open to the public until seating capacity is reached.
Reservations are recommended and can be made by emailing events@uwcad.it, including the name, surname, and province of residence of each attendee.
