The day after the great Barcolana regatta, Trieste basks in sunshine. The sails are down, the harbor calm, yet the city still hums with the energy of the weekend’s race. Locals, strolling along the waterfront, shared their impressions of the world’s largest sailing event. “It’s always emotional,” said Marco, a lifelong Triestino. “Barcolana isn’t just a race—it’s who we are.” Others spoke of the joy and pride that fill the city each October, when sailors and visitors from around the world gather. As one resident put it, “Barcolana leaves you with sunshine in your heart.”
