On September 27 and 28, the UNICEF Provincial Committee of Trieste will bring its latest fundraising initiative to the city’s Le Torri d’Europa mall. The campaign, titled “Olive Tree – Nothing Is More Beautiful Than Watching It Grow,”will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both days, supported by local volunteers.

The initiative is part of a broader effort taking place in more than 500 Italian towns and cities. Its aim is to raise awareness and funds for children affected by humanitarian crises worldwide. According to UNICEF, some 473 million children are currently living in or fleeing conflict zones — a number the organization says represents one of the most pressing global emergencies of our time.

In exchange for a minimum donation of €15, participants will receive a small olive tree along with a UNICEF cotton bag. The olive tree, long a Mediterranean symbol of peace and resilience, is intended to serve as a reminder of the need to safeguard children’s futures.

Organizers describe the campaign as a way of turning a modest act of giving into tangible assistance for young people caught in the turmoil of war, displacement, or natural disaster.

UNICEF officials stress that while the gesture may be small, its impact is intended to be far-reaching: a contribution to efforts that seek not only to provide immediate aid but also to preserve hope for the generations to come.
