With just three weeks to go before the city’s most beloved sailing regatta, organizers of the Barcolana are introducing a new initiative to bring order and safety to the many street parties that spring up along Trieste’s waterfront during the festivities.

The project, called “Borgo Cavana,” aims to extend the celebratory perimeter into the historic Cavana district, combining entertainment with a focus on security and decorum. The plan includes a central information point and a physical store selling official merchandise in the heart of the neighborhood.

The layout is designed around two thematic routes. The “fish route” will highlight local restaurants and food-and-wine experiences, while the “salt route” will focus on artisanal shops and crafts. Nearly 100 businesses have signed on to participate, with contribution fees ranging from 50 to 200 euros.

The official program, featuring a wide variety of events for all audiences, is scheduled to run from Saturday, October 4, through Sunday, October 12.
