The University of Trieste has opened applications for the 2025–26 academic year, announcing 25 master’s degree programs spanning fields from medicine to law, economics, politics and education. Eleven are first-level programs, available to those holding a bachelor’s degree, while 14 are second-level, open to graduates of master’s programs.
This year’s catalogue, promoted by eight departments, places a strong emphasis on interdisciplinarity and sustainability. Seven new programs have been introduced, each with a strong professional focus intended to meet emerging demands in healthcare, logistics, social services and management.
New Programs for 2025–26
Among the highlights is a first-level program in Labor Law for Human Resources and Employment Consulting, which combines expertise in employment law with training in criminal, tax, European and business law. The curriculum is designed to prepare professionals who can navigate workplace transitions in the digital, environmental and social spheres.
Another first-level addition, Bioethics and Pediatric Palliative Care, addresses the clinical, ethical and relational aspects of caring for children with chronic, incurable conditions. The program integrates bioethics with palliative skills, focusing on communication, decision-making and the dignity of the child and family.
On the logistics front, the second-level program in Intermodality in Port Systems provides training in rail and intermodal transport, cost analysis, customs law and digital data applications. The program is aimed at professionals managing the growing complexity of international port logistics.
Medical offerings have also expanded. A second-level master’s in Robotic Surgery trains physicians in robot-assisted pelvic and renal procedures, combining laboratory practice with operating room experience in three centers, including one in Slovenia. Another second-level course in Aesthetic Medicine focuses on integrating dermatology and plastic surgery with non-invasive techniques such as fillers, botulinum toxin and laser treatments, emphasizing responsible practice in a rapidly expanding field.
Institutional Partnerships
Two of the new programs fall under agreements with Italy’s Ministry of Labor and Social Policies.
The first, a one-year program in Integrated Social Care and Support (PiCAS), is designed for social workers, educators and psychologists working with vulnerable populations. It emphasizes multidisciplinary teamwork, evidence-based intervention and participatory approaches.
The second, a two-year program in Planning, Management and Evaluation of Social Services, develops advanced skills in the design and monitoring of social policy and services. Participants are trained in governance, co-programming and the creation of inclusive networks in line with national inclusion strategies.
In addition, the university confirmed the continuation of its established second-level master’s in Law and Management of the Third Sector (DMTS). Now entering its fourth edition, the program is offered in partnership with the Friuli Venezia Giulia regional government and prepares professionals to lead nonprofit organizations through legal, managerial and fundraising challenges.
Both programs tied to the Ministry of Labor are pending final approval, with enrollment details to be released once authorized.
