Registrations are now open for the eleventh edition of Barcolana Nuota powered by Honda, the open-water swimming competition held annually in the Gulf of Trieste. The event is scheduled for Sunday, October 5, and is part of the broader program of the 57th Barcolana, the renowned sailing regatta presented by Generali.

This year marks a new chapter for the swim, with Honda stepping in as the naming partner for the first time. The race, which has grown steadily in popularity and prestige over the past decade, is organized by the Società Velica di Barcola e Grignano in partnership with US Triestina Nuoto Samer & Co. Shipping, and supported by Acqua Dolomia and Murphy&Nye.

First launched as an experimental addition to the sailing week, Barcolana Nuota has since become a fixture of the festival, attracting both competitive swimmers and amateur enthusiasts from across Italy and beyond. Organizers describe the race as one of the most symbolic and visually compelling moments of the Barcolana calendar, offering participants the opportunity to swim in a unique maritime setting just steps away from Trieste’s historic waterfront.

As in previous years, the race will feature a set course in the open sea, with safety measures and organizational details tailored to accommodate a broad range of swimming levels. Specific regulations, race routes, and registration guidelines are available through the event’s official website.

The Barcolana festival, traditionally held in early October, transforms Trieste into a hub of maritime culture and sport, drawing thousands of visitors to its shores. Barcolana Nuota has carved out its own space within the event, underscoring the region’s deep connection to both sea and sport.
