Former Italian football star Christian Vieri has launched a new summer sports and entertainment initiative in Lignano Sabbiadoro, bringing together icons of Italian football for a high-energy padel tournament combined with music and charity. The “Bilboa Bobo Summer Cup Padel Tour 2025” officially begins today and will run through the weekend at the U-Power Stadium Arena, a popular venue in the resort town on Italy’s Adriatic coast.

The event, conceived and promoted by Vieri—known affectionately as “Bobo”—aims to blend sport and spectacle, attracting both tourists and locals. It features a padel tournament involving former professional athletes and celebrities, as well as musical performances and beachside entertainment.

The tour’s Lignano leg, scheduled from August 1 to August 3, is the first stop of a summer series that will travel to other Italian coastal cities. Future stages are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Vieri was welcomed in Trieste on Thursday by Friuli Venezia Giulia’s regional governor, Massimiliano Fedriga, who praised the initiative for combining sport, tourism, and social commitment. “We warmly welcome the return of the unforgettable Bobo Vieri and some of the greats of our national football here in Lignano and in Friuli Venezia Giulia,” Fedriga said. “This is a competitive and celebratory event that enriches the array of activities our region offers to summer visitors.”

Fedriga also emphasized the event’s partnership with SOStegno 70, a volunteer organization that provides assistance to children and adolescents affected by diabetes. A portion of proceeds and awareness campaigns during the event will support the organization’s ongoing projects.

The “Bobo Summer Cup” has previously drawn crowds in cities such as Riccione and Civitanova Marche, and continues to grow as a lifestyle brand blending fitness, celebrity, and social engagement.

The Lignano Sabbiadoro event is open to the public with free admission during daytime hours, while evening events and concerts may require advance registration or ticketing through the official tour website.
