The City of Trieste has officially reopened the “Settimo Topolino,” a historic seaside bathing pavilion, following restoration work prompted by severe storm damage sustained during the autumn of 2023.

The reopening ceremony was held on Wednesday in the presence of Mayor Roberto Dipiazza, Councillor for Municipal Property Elisa Lodi, City Council President Francesco di Paola Panteca, and representatives from the city’s Public Building Service and construction teams. The renovation was partially funded by Italy’s Civil Protection Fund.

The Settimo Topolino—named in honor of Ottavio Missoni, the famed athlete and fashion designer—is one of several traditional seaside structures along Trieste’s waterfront. The 2023 storm had caused extensive damage to the facility, prompting a months-long restoration effort led by the local firm Itec Srl of Udine.

With its reopening, the city restores a culturally and historically significant part of its coastline, frequently used by residents during the summer months.
