A new passenger ferry named Nereos is set to begin operations on Thursday, July 10, linking the northeastern coastal cities of Trieste and Grado. The announcement was made by regional transport consortium Tpl Fvg and Apt, the provincial transport company of Gorizia.

After completing all necessary administrative procedures, the vessel was transferred from Palazzolo dello Stella to the Lignano dockyard before arriving in Trieste late last week. The launch comes after significant delays, but the service is now fully operational.

Nereos is 25 meters long and 6 meters wide, with a maximum capacity of 200 passengers and approximately 30 bicycles. It cruises at 13 knots, with a top speed of 20 knots. The journey between Trieste and Grado is expected to take about one hour and thirty minutes.

The maritime connection will run from July 10 through October 12, with service available from Tuesday to Sunday.
