The eternal love story conceived by the genius of Shakespeare becomes a ballet thanks to Prokofiev’s splendid score and goes on the theater Verdi’s stage this Tuesday, 21 March at 8.30 pm.

One of the greatest contemporary Italian choreographers Renato Zanella, revives the ballet, highlighting all of the passion of the two lovers, in the modern key.

“I am from Verona myself and I wanted to show the city as it is today. A story of contemporary women who walk down Verona’s streets. Juliette from girl to woman, her mother who feels alive through her love-story with Tibaldo, and consequently feels desperate when he passes. It’s going to be a sight to see, especially the second act,” said Zanella.

Shakespeare’s tale of ancient rivalries and youthful passion inspired Prokofiev to pen one of his most dramatic and moving scores. Balancing the dark with the light, the charming Ljubliana ballet will keep everyone on their toes.

The opening night of “Romeo and Juliette” is on Tuesday, 21 March at 8.30 pm and the tickets go from 35 euro up. More here: www.teatroverdi-trieste.com
