The historic Used Market at Giulia, a cherished fixture in Trieste’s cultural calendar, is making its annual summer return this weekend. On August 3rd and 4th, the market, organized by the cultural association “Cose di vecchie case,” will once again fill the Galleria at the ilGiulia shopping center with a curated selection of antiques, modern collectibles, and artisanal crafts.

Since its inception in 1996, the Used Market at Giulia has been a standout event for vintage enthusiasts and responsible consumers alike. This weekend, from 9 AM to 7 PM, visitors can explore an array of items that range from small antiques and memorabilia to modern collectibles and handcrafted creations, all with free admission.

The market’s enduring appeal lies in its ability to revive and repurpose items from yesteryears. Exhibitors will offer everything from vintage vinyl records and classic comics to intricate miniatures and models, alongside fine glasswork, wooden crafts, and seasonal décor. These pieces, often found in dusty attics or old trunks, find new life and value on the market’s bustling stalls.

“This event is more than just a market; it’s a celebration of history and craftsmanship,” said a spokesperson for the organizing association. “It provides a unique opportunity to rediscover items that tell stories of the past while giving them a fresh context in today’s world.”

The Used Market at Giulia has become a staple in the region, attracting collectors, hobbyists, and casual shoppers. Each month, it transforms the shopping center’s common areas into a treasure trove of curiosities, offering a distinctive shopping experience that’s both nostalgic and novel.

Looking ahead, the market will continue its monthly tradition with the next event scheduled for August 31st and September 1st, 2024. The association, active since 1998 and boasting over 350 members, collaborates with local municipalities across the region to organize these events, which also include musical performances and activities for children.

For those interested in a weekend of exploration and discovery, the Used Market at Giulia promises a delightful journey through time, with a chance to find that perfect, one-of-a-kind item or simply enjoy the charm of a bygone era.
